H Cope & Sons are currently working towards ISO 14001 certification and actively promote good environmental practices in all we undertake.

Our waste division are actively promoting the WRAP initiative of Halving waste to landfill, we achieve this by separating the waste in our transfer facility and directing specific waste streams into recycling uses such as soil, brick rubble, wood and so on.

Our concrete division, Copes Readymix Limited, uses cement replacements which reduce the amount of embodied CO2 within a specific mix. For example one ton of Portland cement or as is now known as CEM I, contains 930 kg of embodied CO2 per ton. By utilizing cement replacements we reduce this figure by up to 320 kg CO2 per tonne. In addition to this we are audited by North East Lincolnshire Council regularly to ensure our systems satisfy legislation.

• Our concrete plant works on a zero waste policy. All returned concrete is processed through our crushing operation.
• Our demolition division recycles the majority of waste generated during its operations.
• Our fleet of vehicles is never allowed to get too old, this ensures that emissions from vehicles are reduced.
• We take the view that we are all responsible for our environment around us and are always mindful of the effects bad practices can cause.
